SUPERGUIDE: Make Money – “99 Straight Forward Money Making Tips”

Everyone wants to make money. Just boot up your web browser and you’ll see tons of ads, telling you can “make money online!” or “make money fast!” Well, there are thousands of ways you can make money, whether they be fast or take years. In this guide, we’re going to give you quite a few good ideas on how you can do just that.

We’re going to talk about:

  • Ways you can make money fast – in as little as one day
  • Ways you can build your wealth and savings over time
  • Side gigs you can pick up that will help you make money

Itching to earn some cash? Here’s how you can make money, regardless of your skills.

1. Pick up that soda bottle or can

All around the world, cities are becoming more recycling-friendly. For that reason, there are recycle centers all over the place that will pay you as much as ten cents per can or bottle you return.

You can make it a daily or weekly habit of heading out with a trash bag and picking up littered cans and bottles you see. You can just pick them up as you see them, stick them in your car, and watch your “money” accumulate. Or, if you’re feeling daring, you can ask your neighbors if you can raid their recycle bin.

Once you’ve collected a stockpile, turn those bottles and cans in to be recycled! One here, one there… in ten years you may have made quite a bit of cash. Plus, you’re helping the planet!

  • Recycling is growing in many communities
  • You can make quick cash by collecting bottles and cans
  • You can collect occasionally or regularly, and you’ll be helping keep the planet cleaner

2. Babysit

If you like (or can at least tolerate) children, why not consider babysitting? Put up a flyer at the local post office, or on a website like Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace. Advertise your services as a babysitter, nanny or childcare provider and earn some extra dough.

If it turns out you really like it, you can actually make babysitting a full time job. Offer to care for little ones during the day in their home or yours. People are willing to pay hundreds of dollars each week to ensure their little ones are safe.

For even more money, consider getting a CPR/First Aid certification or even a lifeguard certification. Parents want to know their kids are in good hands!

  • If kids are your thing, you can make good money babysitting
  • Consider getting certifications to improve your chances of being hired
  • Babysitting can turn into a full time job if you find the right family

3. Fill out surveys online

There are oodles of websites that offer cash to fill out surveys. Marketers and manufacturers are always looking for the best ways to reach prospects. So they solicit the opinions of people like you to let them know just how to do that.

There are a few catches with filling out surveys. First, you may begin a survey only to find out you’re not qualified. This is time consuming and frustrating. Secondly, most survey sites require that you reach a minimum balance before you withdraw. If you’re looking for cash today, this isn’t your best bet. Finally, surveys don’t pay much. You’ll usually only net a few pennies per survey.

But if you’ve got a lot of spare time and want some extra pocket change, filling out surveys online is a good option for you.

  • There are hundreds of survey sites online
  • Many only pay a few pennies per survey
  • If you have time and patience, filling out opinions is a good option

4. Pet sitting

If kids aren’t your jam, why not try pet sitting instead? Dogs and cats and birds and fish are very good companions. They don’t talk back, they go to bed on their own, and they never complain about brushing their teeth.

You don’t have to stop at the small animals, either. If you’ve got any expertise, you can make quite a bit of cash caring for horses and other livestock while their people travel. Of course, you’ll have to be comfortable mucking stables and the like. But, like the smaller animals, they’re not likely to give you any sass when you tell them to eat their veggies.

  • When pet owners go out of town, they usually need pet care
  • Pet sitting is a great idea for people who don’t care for dealing with kids
  • Don’t limit yourself to small animals – big animals and livestock need care, too

5. Become a referee

Love sports? You can become a referee. Schools, community centers, adult leagues and kids’ clubs are always on the lookout for people who are willing to referee. See, it seems everyone wants to coach, and no one wants to make the final call on fair game play.

Check with your local civic organization and other groups to find out who’s hiring. These jobs are, obviously, usually seasonal. But they’re a good way to make some extra money, say, before the holidays. If you love the sport, why not involve yourself as a referee?

  • Everyone wants to coach, but sports groups are always looking for referees
  • Check your local newspaper, schools and community groups to see who’s hiring
  • These jobs are seasonal, but a good way to make extra money

6. Be a tire man/woman

When was the last time you were driving down the highway and saw a stranded motorist with a flat? You can be someone’s hero – become a tire man or woman! If you know how to change a tire, you can do this. Simply stop to offer assistance and get to work.

There are a few things to keep in mind. First, not everyone carries cash. It’s possible that there will be times when you’re little more than a good Samaritan and won’t see your work come to any profit. Also, not everyone is safe. There are some crazy people out there, folks, so be sure you take all necessary precautions before stopping to help a stranger.

With all that in mind, arm your vehicle with jumper cables, a jack, tire pressure gauge and all the other necessities, then go be someone’s hero!

  • People frequently need roadside assistance but aren’t covered by insurance
  • You can help stranded motorists for cash
  • Be careful – not everyone is a nice person

7. Rent out your house or apartment

This probably isn’t the best idea for a long term plan, but you can make money by renting out your house or apartment. Assuming you own your place and have somewhere to go, list your home online or with a local agent and rent out your home.

If you’re renting from someone else, be very cautious. Subletting your home or apartment can actually cause eviction, putting you in a worse place than you were to begin with. Check the terms of your lease before you list your home.

Renting out your house is a good short term option for, say, saving for a vacation. Call Mom, tell her you’ll be staying there for a few months, and then rent your home to someone who’s travelling for business, waiting for a new home to be built, a student or who is for any other reason temporarily without a place.

  • You can make money by renting out your house
  • Don’t do this if you’re renting from a landlord without first clearing it in writing
  • Be sure you have a place to go in the interim

8. Sell your old, outdated stuff

People will pay a lot of money for stuff you think is junk. You know the saying, “one person’s trash is another’s treasure.” You’d be surprised at the things that go for a lot of money online and through sites like Craigslist.

What do you have lying around your house? An old Playstation from 2009? An e-reader from when they were first released? A color changing shirt from 1987? Look around and see what you’re not using anymore, then post it online! You can use an online yard sale or an auction site like eBay.

  • You can make money by selling stuff you think is worthless
  • People pay lots of money for “vintage” items
  • You can use an online marketplace or an online auction site to sell your things

9. Sell stock photos

One of the most interesting ways to make money is by selling stock photos. And it’s actually very easy to do. Web developers, product designers and others pay lots of money to add visuals to their content. It’s up to you to provide those visuals.

You don’t have to be a professional photographer to sell stock photos. All you need is a digital camera – even a high quality phone camera will do. Begin by walking around your home and just looking around. What do you see? Seriously, anything will do: a nice place setting, or a well-decorated bedroom? Take a picture of your cat sleeping.

Upload those pictures to your computer, then do a Google search for “sell stock photos.” Check the image requirements for the site, make sure your images match, then post them for sale! Who knew that $.33 banana would net you so much profit?

  • Millions of businesses are looking for stock images
  • You don’t need to be a pro to sell your photos
  • You can take a picture of just about anything you can think of

10. Become a ride share driver

If you’ve got a car, insurance and a good driving record you can sign up to be a ride share driver. The big names in ride share are Uber and Lyft, but there are certainly others. All you’ll do is go through the verification process, then sign in as available when you’re ready to work.

You’ll meet many interesting people when you’re a ride share driver. But remember, not everyone is safe. Install a dash cam, and always keep your phone’s location on when you’re transporting a rider. Also remember that this is probably not going to become a full time job unless you live in a major city. There are more people requesting rides in London than in a tiny town in North Carolina.

  • There are very few requirements to be a ride share driver
  • Remember to take safety precautions before beginning this gig
  • You’ll make more money in a larger city than in a smaller town

11. Find a freelance gig

Freelancing is becoming more and more popular, with more people leaving the rat race to do their own thing. For example, there are hundreds of freelance accountants, freelance web developers, game developers… you name it.

If you have a talent, why not make money from it? There are oodles of freelance websites out there. Just do a Google search for “freelance” and you’ll see what we mean. Sign up for one that matches your skills and talents, then get to work!

The benefit of freelancing is that you get to choose who you work with. The downside is that work isn’t always steady, so be sure you have a backup plan. Don’t expect it to be a full time job right away.

  • Thousands of people are leaving the workforce to freelance
  • You can freelance with just about any talent
  • Freelancing isn’t always steady work, so start out part-time

12. Get a job

Okay, this one’s pretty obvious, but if you need money you could always just get a job. It’s sometimes easier said than done, but there are plenty of jobs out there if you’re not picky… even if you don’t have an education.

You can be hired as a newspaper deliverer (or the person who rolls the papers). You can be hired as the person who break down boxes at the liquor store. You can get a job in fast food, or even in maintenance. Be sure you have a clean criminal background, and it’s usually best if you have a driver license. Then, check the local paper or job site and see who’s hiring!

  • You don’t need an education or college degree to get a job
  • Start small, and just see what’s out there!
  • Be sure you have a clean criminal background and, usually, a driver license

13. Watch videos online

Did you know you can make money just by watching videos online? Like survey sites, there are hundreds of websites that pay you to watch short videos, movie trailers or advertisements online. Also like surveys, it’s not a great way to make a ton of money fast. You can assume you’ll make about a dollar an hour.

That said, let’s assume you have two computers. Set one up to run and play videos while you do your thing on the other. You can be literally making a few pennies every few minutes “in the background” by doing nothing at all!

  • You’re not going to get rich watching videos online
  • It’s possible to make money “in the background” while you watch videos online
  • There are thousands of websites available, just do a search and find your favorite

14. Deliver groceries

Many grocery stores today offer a delivery service, where customers will submit a list online, pay a delivery fee and have food delivered right to their door. However, in smaller communities these services are not available.

There are about a hundred reasons why someone might want groceries delivered. They could be planning a party and just be too busy to go. They could have a lack of access to transportation. They may be homebound and can’t go to the store themselves.

Set up your own delivery service. Post a flyer at the local grocery stores and online. Let your friends know you’d love for them to spread the word about your service. Then, decide on your fee. A flat fee is usually best, but you could choose to charge by the mile. Either is fine, but be consistent.

Be prepared to go to the grocery store and shop for this person. It’s best i you’re over the legal age for alcohol, tobacco and medical products. In some countries you may even need to check whether you can buy things like lighters and matches.

  • Many smaller communities don’t have grocery delivery service
  • You can charge a fee to deliver groceries to home bound people
  • Be sure you’re of the legal age to buy sensitive products like alcohol and tobacco for your customers

15. Invest in real estate

If you happen to have good credit and a down payment lying around, you can invest in real estate. In fact, this is even easier to do if you happen to be handy.

Look around for cheap properties, fixer uppers or anything else that you think would resell well. Take the time to chat with a real estate agent to talk about the potential value of the home, the current value and the location in general if you’re not familiar with it.

Then, make an offer and purchase the property. You can resell it immediately at a profit. Or, you can choose to fix it up and sell. You could also rent out the property for a continual stream of income each month. Real estate investment can be risky, but it can also be very lucrative.

  • Real estate investment requires good credit and, usually, a down payment
  • You can fix up properties or sell/rent as is
  • Know what you’re getting into before you buy a property – it can be risky

16. Free scratch off tickets

If you want to try your luck, you can go online and try free scratch off tickets. In a similar way to online surveys, this isn’t the most lucrative way to make money in the world. But if you choose the free tickets and lotteries, there’s no risk of losing anything but your time.

Go online and search “free scratch off games” or some similar term. You’ll probably have to register for the site and provide a bit of information about yourself. You may even need to upload a photo of your ID or passport.

After that, it’s easy. Choose your game and scratch away! You could earn as much as a few thousand dollars if you’re lucky! If you’re not, you could earn a few cents. Either way, there’s no risk, so get to scratching!

  • There are many free scratch off tickets online
  • You’ll have to provide information about yourself and register for the sites
  • It’s literally a gamble and you might not win much, but it’s fun to try

17. Help small business owners

Next time you’re out and about, drive down Main Street in your town. You’ll notice many small businesses, ranging from florists and dry cleaners to cafes and pet stores. These small business owners are very busy people!

Think about it! They’re their own marketing department, accounting department, web design firm and HR. They do their own cleaning, their own ordering and then, of course, they have to do their main job.

How can you help? Often, these business owners don’t want to hire because of the cost and the tax implications – full time employees just aren’t an option. But more often than not, they’re more than willing to hire someone to, say, mop and vacuum at night, or even run errands.

As them! What can you do that would make their lives easier? You don’t have to work for just one business either. For instance, you can act as a courier for more than one shop, or a window washer for a few stores.

Helping small business owners is a good way to make money, and it’s good for the local community!

  • Small business owners are extremely busy people
  • These owners are often overwhelmed by more mundane, time consuming tasks
  • As your local business owner how you can help

18. Stop deleting your emails

There are quite a few “money catching” or “savings catcher” applications online that can help you earn back a few dollars. These trackers save your receipts from purchases on, way, Walmart or Amazon, and when they find a lower price they’ll refund the money into an account.

The apps require that you save your electronic receipts, but you can store them in a secondary folder in your email inbox. This isn’t necessarily going to help you make money, but you can earn back some of the money you’ve already spent when you use these apps.

  • Find a savings catcher online and register your email address
  • These apps will help find lower prices on products you’ve already purchased
  • You won’t earn thousands, but it’s a good way to get a bit of money back

19. Invest in the stock market

If you know what you’re doing, you can earn money by investing in the stock market. You can either day trade (buying and selling stocks quickly) or you can become a long term investor (choosing companies that you think will grow well). Either way, the stock market is risky, so be sure you’re familiar with what it takes to be successful.

You can practice trading stocks with no risk. There are many, many platforms that offer a trading simulation where you’ll choose stocks, watch them rise or fall and learn the ins and outs of trading. Once you begin to trade with real money, always know the fees and penalties associated with each transaction.

Once again, trading the markets is risky. You can literally lose all your money, or you may become the next Warren Buffet.

  • Trading stocks is risky, but it can be lucrative
  • Be sure you know the ins and outs before you begin to trade
  • Use a stock market simulator before you begin to spend real money

20. Sell your old clothes and accessories

If your closet is full but your wallet is empty, you can sell your old clothes that you never wear and make good money. There are a few ways you can do this, depending upon what you own.

First, you can take your clothing to a consignment shop. These stores will evaluate your clothing and make you two offers: one for cash and one for store credit. Consignment stores are particular about condition and brand, so check that your clothes are in good condition.

Secondly, you could hold a yard sale. If you need cash fast, this is the easiest way to get it.

Thirdly, you could sell your clothing in “lots” online. This is especially popular with infant clothing, since those little buggers grow so fast.

Finally, you can sell your clothes with one of the clothing marketplaces online. ThredUp and PoshMark are two examples – do a search and find one you like.

  • Selling your old clothes is a great way to do some spring cleaning and make money
  • Some methods will make more money than others
  • Some payment will be faster, for example a yard sale or consignment is faster than listing online

21. Use cash back apps

Like savings catchers, cash back apps won’t earn you money. However, they’re a good way to earn back money on items you’ve already bought.

Do a search online – you’ll see that there are thousands, way too many to list here. Some are applications you’ll download to your phone, like DOSH and Ibotta. Others are platforms you’ll use online, like MyPoints and Swagbucks. Please note that we have no affiliation with any of these sites; the examples were randomly chosen to explain what we mean.

As you shop online or even in store, these apps will give you money back. This may be a percentage or a specific dollar amount, depending upon the application. For the best results, stick with one app to watch your earnings grow more quickly.

  • Cash back apps will give you money back on purchases you make
  • Purchases may be in-store or online, depending upon the app
  • You won’t make hundreds, but these apps are a great way to make money back

22. Get paid to lose weight

What if you could get healthy, lose weight and make money at the same time? You can! The internet is chock-full of sites that reward you for taking steps toward better health. Do a search online, and you’ll see a wide variety. Some will be local sites like pharmacies that reward you with points that can be redeemed for rewards. Others are nationwide challenges that you can participate in as a team or alone.

In most cases, you’re going to have to provide some pretty identifying information about yourself. This includes your height, weight, age and medical history. Of course, you’ll also input your name and address. If you’re comfortable with that, weight loss challenges and rewards programs might be a good bet for you.

If you want to improve your general health or have a goal weight you’d like to reach, do a search for “get paid to lose weight online.” Review your options, choose your favorite, and get fit!

  • There are many sponsored programs that offer rewards for losing weight
  • Even if you don’t have a weight loss goal, many programs still offer rewards for healthy choices
  • Some are free to enter, while others are team events with an entry fee

23. List your extra space

Previously, we mentioned renting out your home or apartment to make money. If you can’t do that, you always have the option of simply renting out space in your home.

Do you have an extra bedroom you’re not using? It helps if it’s a master bedroom with a bathroom attached. Do you have a non-bedroom that would make a great office space? Do you have a garage you’re not using that would make a great workshop?

Rent it out! You set the price, and if you don’t mind dealing with strangers it’s a great way to make money. Be sure to do a background check on whomever is renting your space, and always check references!

  • Your unused space can make you money
  • Any space is fine, from an extra room to a garage or workshop
  • Always check references and run a background check on your tenant

24. Create an online course

Are you really good at something, and you want to teach others? Why not create an online course? There are quite a few platforms online that will allow you to create classes on topics ranging from everything from photography to astrophysics. Just choose what you’re good at, then publish it.

The platforms will take a percentage of what you earn through your online course. But in most cases it’s free to publish your class. Be sure to read the terms and conditions before you sign up – always know the cost to you.

Some classes will be text only, while others will require that you create video content for your course. Choose what you’re comfortable with, and start teaching as soon as tomorrow!

  • You can teach others online by setting up an online course
  • Some will require video content, so be sure you’re okay with your image online
  • Classes are usually free to post, but the platforms will take a percentage of your profit

25. Sell your crafts online

There’s no doubt you’ve seen the online marketplaces where artisans sell their homemade, handcrafted wares. You can do the same. Whether your passion is origami, woodworking or basket weaving, you can make very good money selling your products online.

There are a few things you’ll need to be aware of. First, if you’re a cook or a baker – say you want to sell barbecue sauce or cookies – you’ll have to look into your local laws. You might need an industrial kitchen, as in some places it’s illegal to sell food products from home.

Secondly, you’ll need to check market prices. For instance, it seems that today everyone and their dog makes soap. Don’t expect to make a few bars of soap and get paid well. Find a unique product that you’re good at and research what others are charging for it.

Finally, always be aware of listing fees and commissions you’ll pay to the platform. Conversely, you can build your own website, but be prepared to do a lot of marketing legwork.

  • You can earn money selling most types of crafts online
  • You can build your own site and pay a fee or set up your own site and market yourself
  • Always research the market before you begin trying to sell your product

26. Start a blog

We’ll be honest: starting a blog is easy, but making money from one takes tie. It’s not hard, per se, but you’re going to need to put a lot of work into it. You’ll need to launch the site, create the content and fix the layout the way you like. Then you’re going to need to draw visitors to your blog, which is called digital marketing.

Once you get a fair amount of traffic, though, you can make money from your blog. Sell ad space or sponsor other businesses. Set up affiliate links so that when someone clicks through a product on your site you’ll earn a commission. There are a number of ways you can make money but, again, it’s going to take a lot of work.

When you start your blog, there are a few things you should pay attention to. Make sure it’s mobile friendly, make sure there are few to no typos and always be sure your content is original. In short, make it a site that people want to visit – not just once but again and again.

It could take months or years, but your blog can be a stream of income for you that you don’t even have to mess with except for maintenance.

  • Building a blog is easy but making money from it takes time
  • Be sure your blog is mobile friendly, well organized and original
  • If done right, your blog can be a source of income for years to come

27. Data entry

Data entry is a job you can do from home that requires little to no skill. And there are thousands of businesses looking for people to do data entry for them – but there’s a reason for this.

For most people, data entry is boring. It’s tedious, it’s a strain on the eyes and it’s repetitive. You’re literally entering data, as the name implies, and there’s no room for error. For instance, imagine you’re doing data entry for a hospital. Just one misplaced decimal point can mean life or death to someone.

On the other hand, there’s data entry that’s not so life-threatening. Jobs might include entering receipt amounts, nutritional information or phone numbers and addresses. Again, there are thousands of jobs out there, so if you think you might like data entry, give it a shot.

  • Many people find data entry repetitive and dull
  • There are many opportunities for this type of job
  • Data entry requires no skill but typing

28. Sell your trash

As mentioned, one man’s trash is another’s treasure. And you might be surprised at the things you can sell. Like trash. Literal, actual trash.

People sell all kinds of things for money. Used cooking oil can be sold for about a dollar a gallon. Cardboard boxes can be sold for quite a bit – as long as your prices are lower than the storage facility’s. some of your junk mail can be sold for cash if it pertains to the financial industry. Reclaimed wood, scrap metal… you name it, you can sell it.

If you’ve got stuff laying around, do an online search to see if anyone’s buying it. It could be your compost or your old lawnmower; there’s a good chance someone will take it. It’s a win-win, really. You get rid of your junk, and your junk stays out of the landfills and oceans.

  • Your trash could be worth money, whether it’s junk mail or cooking oil
  • Look before you dump – do a search for what you have and see who’s buying
  • Selling your trash is beneficial to the environment

29. Rent your RV

If you happen to have an RV in good condition, you can rent it out. After all, you’re not using it all year, right? Most RVs just sit, unused for months on end. Why not earn some cash by renting yours out to someone who’s caught the travel bug?

There are a few things you’ll need to verify before you rent your RV. First, check with your insurance company. Your vehicle may not be covered if someone other than you is driving it. Secondly, you’ll want to check the background, vehicle history and insurance information of your renters.

Set your terms in writing in a contract. Go over who will fill up the fuel tank, pump the waste and the other details. Then, agree on a set price – will you charge a flat weekly fee or charge by the mile? After that’s set in writing and signed, you’re good to go! Or, your renters are good to go. You’re good to collect some cash.

  • If you own an RV, you’re probably not using it … rent it out
  • Be sure you check with your insurance company first
  • Be sure your terms are clear and that you check your renters out thoroughly

30. Write an ebook

This one’s not for everyone. After all, it’s been said that everyone can write and ebook. But not everyone should.

That said, if you have a knack for writing and a story to tell, put it down in words! You can write fiction, non-fiction, poetry or even children’s books. Your book can be funny, inspirational, instructional or just prose. Decide what you want, then start writing.

There are many places you can publish your book online for free. The most popular are Barnes and Noble (in some countries), Amazon, Google and Apple. No matter what country you live in, you’ll find a platform to publish.

These platforms will give you very clear instructions on how to format your book from cover to cover, and will give you marketing options and tools to use to promote your book. You may not make a huge amount of money, but the good thing about publishing an ebook is this: you only do it once. Once you publish your book, there’s little that needs to be done afterword to maintain a stream of income.

  • Writing an ebook isn’t for everyone, but if you have writing skill, use it!
  • Your subject matter can be literally anything
  • Choose a popular, free hosting platform to publish your book and have access to marketing and sales tools

31. Do voiceovers

Voice acting is a tough gig to get, but if you can get it it can make you a lot of money. Many voice actors have trained for years, made demo tapes and have sent them out to dozens of people. It’s a a lot like acting, but instead of headshots they’re sending “voice shots.”

That said, there are plenty of opportunities for voiceover work if you know where to look. Take some time and visit the freelance platforms to get an idea of what clients are paying for the service. Then, be prepared to audition for the role. You’re going to have a lot of competition, but the pay is pretty decent and once you get your foot in the door it’ll become easier and easier to get a gig.

Voiceover acting is something new every day. One day you may be doing an ad for toothpaste while the next you may be narrating a children’s audiobook. It’s fun, too, and people who are in the business say it allows a lot of scheduling flexibility.

  • Voiceover acting is a tough industry to get into, but it can be lucrative
  • Check out online freelancing platforms to see what’s available
  • Doing voiceovers can be fun – it’s something different every day

32. Sell your gift cards

Aunt Sue gave you a restaurant to the local steakhouse for your birthday, but you’re a vegetarian. What do you do? You can trade your unwanted gift cards for cash! Sell them online at one of the many platforms, or, in some areas you can trade them in at local stores.

For instance, in the United States you can visit grocery store kiosks that will “convert” your gift cards to cash. There are a few catches, though. First, sometimes your gift card has to be higher than a certain balance. For instance, $20 or more. Secondly, you’re not going to get full retail for your gift card. You’ll generally take a hit of 5% or more.

That said, if you weren’t going to use the gift card anyway, you might as well get some cash for it. Round up your gift cards and sell them online or at a local kiosk.

  • You can sell unwanted gift cards for cash
  • You can do this online or in retail locations
  • It’s not likely you’ll get full retail value for your gift cards, but it’s better than nothing

33. Rent out your parking space

In some areas, your home “comes with” a designated parking space. However, it’s possible you don’t even have a car. You can turn that unused real estate into big bucks if you’re in a convenient location to shopping, public transportation or just about any other place.

Before you rent out your parking space, be sure you check with the landowner or landlord, if you’re renting. It may not be an option for you and it may be a violation of the terms of your lease. The last thing you want is to be homeless and carless, so be sure you find out the policy first.

It’s also a good idea to be sure the car owner is insured, depending upon the laws in your area. You wouldn’t want a neighbor to scratch your renter’s car and be sued for it.

  • If you have a designated parking space, you can rent it to carpoolers or shoppers
  • Be sure you check with your landlord if you’re renting
  • Check that your renter has adequate car insurance to cover liability

34. Rent out your garage

In the same way you can rent out a parking space, you can also choose to rent out your garage. Perhaps someone you know has a third vehicle, but only a two car garage. Or maybe someone you know has a vintage or classic vehicle that they want to remain protected.

Your garage doesn’t have to just hold cars, either. It can be used as an art studio, a workshop, a storage facility or a place for the neighbor’s kid to practice his new drum set. Use your imagination, and convert that unused space into cash. As always, be sure you’re covered by appropriate insurance.

  • You can rent out your garage to people who have an extra vehicle with no place to store it
  • There are other uses for your garage, too, like a workshop or storage
  • Always check with the landlord and the insurance company before you rent

35. Tutor students

Was there a subject you excelled at in school? Maybe it’s just a topic you’re really good at, like literature or botany. You can sell your services as a tutor to students of any age.

Depending upon the age group you’re looking to tutor, the first thing you should do is to check with your local schools. Find out if you can tutor children or adult students on the premises. If not, ask the school if you can advertise your services. You’ll probably need to provide some credentials.

Then, you should find out the going rate for tutors in your subject. You may be surprised… people pay a lot to ensure their kids are going to do well in school or be accepted to university.

If nothing local appeals to you, you can also tutor online. There are many websites that offer this service. The best way to find gigs is to search for tutoring services as if you were a student, then apply to be a tutor through the sites that result.

  • You don’t have to have a degree to be a tutor – you just have to know the subject
  • Tutors are in demand for all age groups from childhood to adult students
  • Online tutoring is an option if no local venues appeal to you

36. Share your car

Sharing your car is great for the environment and awesome for your wallet! The first thing you’ll need to do, of course, is check the implications with your insurance company. Then, just set your terms and rent your ride.

There are apps on mobile devices and websites on the internet that allow vehicle owners to rent out their vehicles. These sites, of course, will take a commission from your earnings. They’ll also usually require that your vehicle be 10 years old or newer. But if you don’t want to go through an app, you can simply take out an ad on Craigslist or a similar site offering your car for rent.

As with any vehicle rental, you’ll want to check the driver’s license, insurance and vehicle background report. Then, when everything is signed, you’re on your way to making extra cash!

  • If you don’t use your car every day, you can rent it to someone who needs it
  • Check with your insurance company before you rent
  • Also check the renter’s insurance and background – you don’t want a wrecked or stolen car!

37. Deliver food

Food delivery is another way to make money with your vehicle. But this way, you’ll be the one driving.

See, there are an influx of pop ups like Uber Eats and others that deliver takeout food to people who are hungry. But these services, as well as restaurant delivery services, aren’t available in all areas. You can make yourself available and charge a flat or per-mile rate to bring them their fast food or pad Thai.

It’s up to you whether you decide to deliver alcohol, but if you do, be sure that you’re of age, of course. As always, be careful and keep your cell phone location on. You never know who’s going to answer the door when you knock.

  • Food delivery service isn’t available everywhere – take advantage of that
  • You can charge a flat fee or a per mile rate
  • Use caution when you deliver food – or anything at all

38. Deliver furniture

Many times, people want to buy furniture online through the marketplace sites, but they have no way of transporting it. To rent a truck costs quite a bit of money, and that just doesn’t make it worth it.

If you have a truck or a large van, you can offer to do this service “at a discount.” Charge what you like, but be sure it’s cheaper than a truck rental. Then, advertise your services online to let people know they can go ahead and buy that couch, mattress or bed frame.

Do be prepared to help move the stuff, though. You may be asked to lift items or help assemble. Make it clear at the onset whether you’ll charge an assembly fee, and let them know whether you’ll enter their home or just deliver the item to their door.

  • If you have a large vehicle, you can make money delivering furniture
  • Charge a flat fee to pick up and drop off large, bulky items
  • Make it clear what service you’ll provide

39. Offer psychic readings

You don’t have to be a psychic to offer psychic readings. All you need is a computer or a cell phone. Register yourself on one of the psychic sites, then be prepared to answer the phone. It helps if you have a general knowledge of astrology, but just a newspaper horoscope will do just fine.

It’s actually not necessary to register with a site – you can build your own psychic website. Take a look at some of the other sites on the web and mimic the look – they’re usually dark and mysterious. Purple and black is a common theme. Get a Google Voice number, and charge a flat fee. For instance, $20 for 10 minutes.

Your customers should pay before they call, otherwise there’s no guarantee they’ll pay at all. You can choose your specialty, whether it be tarot, a crystal ball or just general psychic readings.

  • Even if you’re not a psychic, you can become a psychic
  • Many websites and apps will allow you to do this, but you can also set up your own site
  • Be sure your callers pay before you speak

40. Set up a crowdfunding account

If there’s a specific event or cause you’d like to raise money for, set up a crowdfunding account. You’ll have to upload a picture, usually of yourself. Then, you’ll have to write a convincing description of what you need the money for. “Jenny’s surgery” doesn’t cut it, you’ll have to be more specific than that.

Then, take to social media. Tell your friends and family members that you’re looking to raise money for this particular thing, and watch the money start coming in. Keep in mind that it’s always a good idea to spend the money on what you said you’d intended it for. Jenny’s surgery funds shouldn’t go to buy you a new Xbox.

  • Crowdfunding is a fast way to collect money for a cause
  • Social media is the best way to spread word about your goal
  • It’s always best to practice integrity with crowdfunding

41. Participate in a mock jury

Trial lawyers want to best know how to defend their clients. So they set up what’s called a mock jury – a random group of participants who will listen to the details of the case and offer opinions.

These mock trials are sometimes boring – corporate law and the like. But sometimes they’re quite interesting! You can listen to defense attorneys talk about murders, theft, and even unusual lawsuits.

These groups don’t last long – usually an hour or two at most. But they pay nicely, and they give you a great chance to exercise your brain, in a fun way. Even if you don’t enjoy it, you’ll love the free snacks – and the paycheck you’ll get, usually on site.

  • Mock juries are an interesting, fun way to get paid
  • You’ll sit and discuss actual, ongoing cases with a small group
  • These focus groups pay fairly well for just a few hours’ work

42. Have a yard sale

We’ve talked about getting rid of your old clothing at a yard sale, but why not just do a little spring cleaning? You’d be surprised what people will buy, from furniture to Mason jars, people collect everything.

Hold your yard sale on a weekend morning, and if you like you can offer “early bird” hours in the wee hours of the morning. There are an incredible number of die-hard yard salers out there, so be prepared to haggle. People love a deal!

You can sell everything from your old Roomba to the stuffed animals your kids have outgrown. Be sure your prices are clearly marked, and be honest about the condition of the products you’re selling. After all, these people now know where you live.

  • You can make extra cash and clean out your home by holding a yard sale
  • Have your yard sale on a weekend, when people aren’t at work
  • Be honest about the condition of the products you’re selling – it’s a matter of safety

43. Pawn your stuff

If you have items you’re not using anymore, you can always bring it to the nearest pawn shop. Pawn shops aren’t just electronics and jewelry anymore. These shops will accept everything from musical instruments to framed paintings.

If you want some quick cash, you can pawn your item. That means you’ll get a certain amount of money, the shop will hold the item for you for a predetermined amount of time, and you’ll have the option to buy it back.

If you want to get rid of it once and for all, you can sell your stuff outright to the pawn shop and they’ll immediately put it in the display. Pawn shops are a great way to earn quick cash when you’re in a pinch.

  • Pawn shops will accept everything from musical instruments to coffee pots
  • You can choose to pawn your item – it will be on hold for a while and you can buy it back
  • Or, you can choose to sell the item outright for cash

44. Perform an instrument

If you know how to play an instrument, put that talent to good use! You can play the piano in the luxury hotel lobby. You can play the saxophone on the street corner. Or, you can hire yourself out to weddings, parties and even church services as a musician.

People love good music, but if you’re going to be working in a professional venue, make sure you know what you’re doing. You may be asked to, for instance, play something straight from the sheet music. Just because you know how to play Fur Elise by heart doesn’t mean you’re any good at reading notes.

If possible, take music requests ahead of time so you know what you’re up against. You don’t have to be perfect – even Chopin made mistakes. But you do have to be professional and good at what you do.

  • Playing a musical instrument in public is a good way to earn extra cash
  • You can play at parties, weddings or events for pay
  • You can also choose to play on the street for tips

45. Be a street artist

Speaking of performing on the street, you don’t have to be a cellist to earn money by performing. You can dance, you can draw portraits or caricatures or you can even just offer palm reading sessions.

Before you become a street artist, it’s imperative that you check with local regulations. While most cities do allow street performers, many will require a permit. Always check with your city offices to clear the red tape. You don’t want heavy fines or even an arrest.

  • Street performers can make money by doing all manner of “acts” on the street
  • You can become a street artist without any real talent except friendliness
  • Always check your local ordinances to see if street performing is allowed

46. Go back to college

Sure, college is expensive. But, generally speaking, you’re going to earn more money in the long run if you go back to school. You don’t have to declare a major or get a Master’s degree. There are many short-track educational programs that are affordable but teach valuable skills.

Take a look at the listings in your community college’s catalog. You’ll find many of these shorter programs in the course list, including auto repair, cosmetology, childcare, nursing and many more. Pick one you like and try a class. If you qualify, you may be able to receive financial aid or a scholarship.

  • Typical universities are expensive, but community colleges are more affordable
  • You can find short-track programs at your local college
  • There are a wide range of programs to choose from

47. Be a handyman

Are you the god of the hammer? Goddess of the jigsaw? Rent yourself out as a handyman or handywoman. You can offer to paint homes, fix toilets, install cabinetry, install wood flooring or even do electrical work, if you’re not required to be licensed in your area.

As with any money-making job, there are dos and don’ts to consider. Do know what you’re doing. No one wants a handyman who’s not at all handy. Do be insured, in case anything happens to you or your client’s home. Don’t make promises you can’t keep. Don’t tell your client you have experience if you don’t.

Pretty much anyone can figure out how to lay brick. But volunteering with your local Habitat for Humanity or similar group will help you refine your skills and learn some new ones. Alternatively, you can enroll in a course as listed in number 48!

  • Renting yourself out as a handyman will earn you cash for doing odd jobs
  • Be honest about what you can and can not do
  • Always be sure you’re insured to protect yourself from liability

48. Do landscaping

Along similar lines, you can also hire yourself out as a landscaper. If you’re familiar with plants, drainage, irrigation, pruning or just plain lawn mowing and raking, you’ve got an almost guaranteed job. Compare going rates in your area and hire yourself out competitively.

You may find that you end up doing jobs you don’t love. But people will pay well for them, because they don’t love them either. For example, cutting the grass in the summer heat doesn’t sound like a picnic to too many people. That’s why you can charge a bit more for the service.

  • Anyone can cut grass or trim hedges – why not make money doing it?
  • Not all jobs are fun, but they generally pay well
  • Be sure to ask around for the going rate for your service, then price yourself competitively

49. Upcycle furniture

There’s something very therapeutic about watching something old become new again. Visit your thrift shop and choose a few wood pieces. Picture frames, desks, dressers – it doesn’t matter. Then, get to work.

You can buy furniture for pennies on the dollar when they’re in thrift shops. But with a little sanding, some paint or stain remover and a fresh set of eyes, you can easily turn them into wonderful creations. Use your imagination – we’re not just talking about spray paint, here! Learn to tile a tabletop or paint intricate designs (or stencils) on a desktop. People will pay good money for your work!

  • You can buy very cheap furniture in thrift stores
  • Strip and sand your furniture, then get creative!
  • Post your creations online and multiply your initial investment

50. Flip computers

What do people do when they, say, crack a computer screen and don’t have insurance? Do they pay the big bucks the repair shop wants? Or do they just get a new computer because it’s almost the same price? The latter, of course!

Take out an ad saying you’ll buy old, damaged computers. Then, set to work to repair them. In the case of the screen, let’s say you bought the broken, worthless thing for fifty bucks. A screen costs another 50. Fix the otherwise fine computer and sell it for 200-300 dollars. You’ve made bank!

Obviously you’ll have to have a bit of tech savvy for this one, but flipping computers is a great way to earn money.

  • People would more readily buy a new computer than pay for expensive repairs
  • Buy those old computers cheap, then fix them and make a profit!
  • Be sure you know what you’re doing! Tech savvy is required

51. Collect cell phones

Did you know you can make money by collecting old cell phones? You can! There are kiosks and trade-in services all over the world that will either refurbish and repair or just recycle old phones. And they’ll pay you for them!

Do an online search for “Sell my cell phone” and you’ll see what we mean. You can mail in older models of iPhones, Androids and even older flip phones. Some won’t be worth much, if anything at all. But if you’ve got a smartphone that has an issue like a battery that won’t charge, or a cracked screen, you can make quite a bit.

Gather old cell phones from your friends and family, and put the word out that you’re collecting. You don’t have to tell them what you’re doing – you can simply say you’re recycling them. It’s not a lie! Then trade in those phones for cash!

  • People often get rid of cell phones just because of a cracked screen or dead battery
  • You can trade those phones in for cash
  • Look online for local kiosks or national cell phone buyers

52. Design logos

If you know your way around photo editing or design software, you can hire your services as a logo artist. Even if you’re not familiar with software like Adobe or even Paint, you can still make killer logos online.

There are many websites and applications that allow you to create graphics with minimal computer knowledge. For instance, on Canva you can make creative logos using pre-drawn shapes, colors and fonts.

Practice for a bit and draw up a few “fake” logos. This will be your portfolio that you show prospective clients. Then, start with local businesses and ask if they want a logo redesign. Don’t be shy – they don’t know how experienced you are! Just get out there and ask. Businesses will pay a pretty penny for a quality logo!

  • Every business needs a logo!
  • You don’t need experience to build a logo – you just need a computer and some software
  • Don’t be afraid to ask local businesses if they’d like a redesign of their current logo

53. Housesit

We’ve already talked about pet sitting and babysitting. But if you’re not fond of any creatures smaller than yourself, you can always watch an entire house.

Every year, thousands of homes are left empty while people vacation. Then, there are the summer and winter homes that are vacant for a full season! This invites theft and vandalism, and that’s your selling point.

Register to be a housesitter. You’ll take care of the cleaning, the yardwork and notify the homeowners of any problems or repairs that need to be made. For your efforts, you’ll have a place to stay – free – and most homeowners will also pay a stipend either before or after their trip.

  • If you’re not fond of kids or pets, you can “sit” for a house
  • Your responsibility is simply to keep up with basic chores
  • You’ll get a free place to stay as well as a paycheck for your minimal effort

54. Wash cars

All you need for this way to make money is some soap, a rag and a bucket. Of course, it helps to have a hose and a water supply.

You can sign yourself up to wash cars either at your own place or you can run a mobile unit. If you go mobile, just let your customers know you’ll need a good water supply. If you have a place in your local area, you may be able to rent space in a parking lot, with the owner’s permission of course. This allows for more visibility and more customers.

  • You can make money by washing cars
  • You may run a mobile service or have customers come to your home
  • This requires minimal supplies – just a few cleaning supplies and some water

55. Coach a sport

If you’re interested in sports and know the rules, you can get a job as a coach. Ice hockey, football, baseball, basketball … pretty much anything you like! Of course, it’s not likely you’ll get a job as a professional coach without years of experience. But local leagues and kids’ teams are always in need of good coaches.

Check with your local sporting groups, community centers and even secondary schools to see who’s hiring. This probably won’t be a year-round position, but a seasonal gig that will earn you a little extra money.

  • Local and kids’ sports leagues are always looking for good coaches
  • You likely won’t land a professional gig
  • It’s not a full time position, but coaching is a good way to make money while having fun

56. Drive a school bus

If you’ve got a driving license, you’re already halfway qualified for this job. Visit the office that grants licenses and apply to get a provision that allows you to drive a school bus. Then, be sure you have a clean criminal background check, and you’re all set.

Many school districts will allow bus drivers to only drive the bus. But in some places, you may also be assigned as a crossing guard or even a lunch aide. Regardless, being a bus driver is a part time job that comes with great benefits in most cases. You’ll have to get up early in the morning, but in most cases you’ll only work a few hours each weekday.

  • Driving a bus is an easy, minimal hour job
  • You’ll have to visit your local driving license office to get a provision on your current license
  • Some school systems may ask you to serve in other, limited capacities within the school district

57. Open a checking account

Sounds silly, doesn’t it? But even if you currently have a checking account, it can pay to get a new one – literally.

Shop around for checking accounts that are interest bearing. The interest probably won’t be more than a percent or two, but at least you’ll be earning on the money you keep in your account anyway.

Additionally, many banks offer incentives to new customers. For instance, you may qualify to open an account and receive anywhere from $20 to $100 after a short period of time. Do your research and find the bank that suits your needs best.

  • Switching to an interest-bearing checking account is an easy way to make money
  • You may also qualify for incentives like cash after a certain amount of time
  • Shop around for the bank that suits your needs the best, including interest and fees

58. Do market research studies

Marketers are ruthless. They want to know exactly how to get a person to buy something. So what they do is sponsor test groups to do market studies. A small group of around 12 to 20 people will be invited into a location to test a shoe, taste a cookie or try a beauty product.

But there’s more. Not only do you get to test the latest products, you’ll also get paid to do it. Most focus groups will pay the same day you go, while some will mail you a check. Either way, you’ll be paid anywhere from a few bucks to a hundred or so.

The only catch is that you’ll usually have to sign a confidentiality agreement. So, if you really love that hair removal quiet, it’s got to stay hush-hush until the product is launched.

  • Marketers are always looking for ways to sell a product
  • Focus groups and market research studies are conducted to learn more about consumer preferences
  • When you participate, you’ll get to try a new product and will get paid for it

59. Participate in medical studies

Would you like to contribute to medical science? There’re plenty of opportunities. All you have to do is sign up to be a part of medical trials. These trials range greatly in their scope. You might get an ultrasound or a CAT scan. You might take a medication for a condition you have, or be part of a test group for a diet.

Now, you may be wondering about the risks associated with these trials. These risks will be fully explained to you at the time you sign for the study. But, rest assured. These trials are in the final stages of approval and have already been tested countless of times before they ever were offered to you.

Medical studies are extremely lucrative. You can expect to be paid hundreds, even thousands for some, although there are trials that will pay just $50 or so. Search online for medical trials to find out what’s in your area and what you might qualify for.

  • When you participate in medical trials you’re helping with medical research
  • Studies range from basic things like smoking cessation to more complex ones like cancer treatment
  • These medical studies are safe and all risks will be explained to you when you sign up

60. Do micro tasks online

If you’re interested in getting into the “gig economy” there are plenty of sites online that will support you. On these sites, you’ll register to work and then receive invitations to complete little jobs called “microtasks.”

To explain a micro task, consider Google. You know those captchas they include sometimes? For example, “Select all the pictures of stop lights.” Well, the computer didn’t come up with the answers on its own. In fact, people were hired to select and verify the images of stop lights before those images became a captcha. That’s similar to what you’ll be doing when you complete micro tasks.

Microtasks don’t pay much – usually just pennies per task. But after a while those extra pennies can add up and provide a bit of extra pocket change for a rainy day. It’s unlikely you’ll make a full time living completing micro tasks, so be sure to keep your day job.

  • Micro tasks are available online and can provide extra income
  • Some micro tasks are pretty mundane, or even boring
  • You won’t earn a full time income with micro tasks, but may be able to earn enough for a trip to the theater

61. Sell t-shirts you’ve designed

You don’t have to be a graphic artist to design and sell t-shirts. You don’t even have to know anything about screen printing or textiles at all. Simply sign up for one of the dozens of sites online. Fill in your information (this may include your tax ID and other identifying information) and get to work.

Using PhotoShop or any other software, you can create images that will be displayed on t-shirts, coffee mugs, tote bags and more. There’s usually no upfront cost to do this, but once your design sells you’ll be charged a commission fee.

People from all over the world can buy your designs and you’ll earn money from each one sold. Do note that most platforms require a minimum sales balance before you can check out, so the more designs you upload, the better!

  • You don’t need design experience to sell t-shirts online
  • You won’t be charged upfront, but will have to pay a percentage of your sales to the platform
  • Some platforms require a minimum balance so upload more than one design

62. Walk dogs

It’s not always the most lucrative position, but you can make money by walking dogs. See, a lot of dog owners work all day, and poor Fido is left at home to get bored, poop in the house and tear up personal property. It’s not good for the pups, and owners don’t seem to like it either.

Create a solution to the problem many pet owners face and offer to walk dogs. You can walk more than one dog at a time, or choose to walk just one at a time to avoid canine conflict. Either way, you’ll have to be sure of three things: that the dog is up to date on its shots, that you’re up to date on your shots and that you don’t mind picking up poop while you walk.

  • Many pets are left at home to get bored and destroy property
  • Owners are willing to pay to have you come walk their dog during the day
  • Be sure you’re up to date on your immunizations and that you don’t have a weak stomach … poo is involved

63. DJ a party

If you know the basics of electronics, you can offer to DJ at a party. This can be a reunion, a prom or even a wedding, depending upon how talented you are. Not familiar with DJing? Go ahead and take an online course. Some are free and most are relatively cheap and they’ll teach you the basics of what you need to know before you get the party started.

You can be as casual or professional as you like. For example, you can be a wedding DJ as mentioned, or you can just offer to play music at a frat party. Either way, be sure you’ve got access to a big library of music. Subscribe to an unlimited service like Spotify Plus and get rockin’.

  • You can learn how to be a DJ online
  • When you DJ, you get to choose the type of events you play
  • Be sure you have a wide selection of music available – you’ll get some weird requests

64. Get a role as an extra

Have you ever wondered, “Who is that guy in that movie, walking around with a metal detector?” Or about the people chatting in the background at the restaurant? The thousands of extras in the Game of Thrones battles?

They’re extras, and they definitely get paid to do what they do. You can find “extra” roles simply by doing a Google or Craigslist search. Most don’t have too many requirements for language or physical appearances, as most extras are just “average Joes.”

You can get paid anywhere from a few bucks to a few hundred just by sipping from a glass or pretending to talk on your cell phone. Remember: you should never have to pay anyone to be an extra, so be wary of scammers.

  • Extras aren’t required to have any particular acting skills
  • You can get paid quite a bit just for acting normal on set
  • Don’t ever pay anyone for the opportunity to be an extra

65. Become a personal trainer

You can become a personal trainer to make money either on the side or as a full time income. However, personal training does have an initial investment, depending upon where you live. You can’t just pop up at a gym and say, “Hey! Can I be a personal trainer?” You’re going to need to gain certification.

Certifications vary depending upon where you are, but you can expect to pay around $500. You’ll take a course (with a huge textbook) that covers anatomy, physiology, exercise science and even nutrition. You can choose to focus on a special population like seniors or those with disabilities, or you can just generalize.

Either way, personal training allows you to set your own schedule, work with the clients you choose to work with and get fit in the process. It’s best if you already are somewhat in shape, however, as that will lend to your credibility.

  • If you’re interested in fitness, personal training can provide a good income
  • Expect to invest in a certification initially
  • You can generalize or choose to work with a specific population of people

66. Become a CNA

Here’s another one that you’ll need a bit of coursework for, but it doesn’t take long. Look into getting your CNA certification and apply to work in a hospital, group health home or even a senior center. CNAs are like nurses, but there are certain things they can’t do. They can’t usually administer medication (though you can easily become a med tech once you’re a CNA), for example.

Be prepared for a CNA job. When you’re a CNA you’re going to be doing the dirty work. You’ll be showering patients, changing bed pans, helping feed patients and pretty much all the other stuff medical staff don’t want to do. But if you don’t have a weak stomach, becoming a CNA can be quite a rewarding way to make money.

  • Becoming a CNA requires certification that you’ll have to pay for
  • CNAs do the dirty work in healthcare settings
  • There are some things CNAs aren’t allowed to do, so check with your local licensing board

67. Get a car wrap on your car

If your car is relatively new, you can get a wrap or even a magnet that will advertise for a company you love (or one that you don’t). Check online for opportunities by simply searching terms like “Advertise on my car” or “earn money with car wraps.”

Once you find a few legit companies, you’ll need to apply. Your car will likely have to be around 6 years old or newer, because companies don’t like to advertise on beat up old engines. You’ll also likely have to put a certain amount of mileage on your car each year. After all if your car is parked in your driveway no one will see the ad.

People who use car wraps usually forget they’re there until someone mentions it. Campaigns can last from a few weeks to a few months, and the wrap is professionally installed.

  • You can make money by using your car to advertise
  • Your car will have to be a certain age to be accepted
  • You’ll likely have to report a certain number of miles driven to be eligible

68. Sell your produce at a farmer’s market

Do you have a thriving home garden? Too many tomatoes? So many jalapenos you don’t know what to do? Sell your excess at the local farmer’s market.

It doesn’t cost much to get a booth at a farmer’s market – usually less than $25 depending on the size of the table you’ll need. You’ll more than make that up if you’re selling quality produce at a price point your consumers like.

Don’t limit yourself to produce, either. People sell honey, pies, crafts and even bath and beauty products at farmer’s markets, so use your imagination.

  • You can make money from your garden by selling at a farmer’s market
  • Booths at your market are likely very inexpensive
  • You’re not limited to produce – choose to sell baked goods or even crafts

69. Edit college papers

Are you a smart cookie? You can offer to edit people’s college papers or even just their admissions essays. Before you offer your services, though, do be sure you know what you’re talking about. Be familiar with the editing styles (for instance MLA or AP) and have a firm and solid understanding of grammar in your native language.

You don’t necessarily have to know anything about the topic you’re editing, but it definitely helps. For example, if you’re a history major you probably don’t know a whole lot about your body’s hormones.

Advertise your services on freelance platforms like Upwork, and, of course, at the local university. You can charge what you like but do your research into current market rates.

  • If you’re good at grammar and writing styles, you can make money editing college papers
  • It helps to know a bit about the subject matter
  • Advertise locally but also consider the global freelance platforms

70. Become a housekeeper

Becoming a housekeeper is a great way to make some extra money. Or, you can actually do this full time if you build up a big enough client base.

The first thing you’ll need to do is create a simple website. On your site, you’ll outline exactly which tasks you’ll do. For example, will you scrub bathrooms or just give them a “going over?” Do you do dishes or not? Laundry? You get the idea.

Then, advertise! Whatever venue is available to you, use it to advertise. Get a Google Business account and set up your company page. List on Craigslist and other sites. For instance, in the United States you might consider Thumbtack.

Becoming a housekeeper isn’t ideal for everyone, but it’s a great way to earn money while you set your own schedule.

  • You can make part- or full-time money as a housekeeper
  • Advertisement is key to your success as a housekeeper
  • Housekeeping offers schedule flexibility and good pay

71. Become a party planner

Are you familiar with your local area? Do you know the hot spots for weddings, parties, reunions and more? Are you on a first name basis with the local florists and formal wear rental companies? You can be a party planner!

Get in touch with everyone you know – the priest, the DJ, the florist, the caterer – everyone who might be involved in a party. Tell them you’re starting a party planning business and ask if they’d be willing to mention your name. Don’t be afraid to ask if they’d be willing to offer discounts while you get your business off the ground.

Being a party planner is fun, but don’t forget: you’re going to run into a few Bridezillas and other unsavory characters. Have a thick skin and an eye for detail and you’ll be just fine.

  • Party planners are the go-to resource for music, venues and more
  • It really helps to know vendors and locations in your local area
  • You’ll work with a few Bridezillas, but otherwise party planning is fun!

72. Clean people’s carpets

Have you ever seen those carpet cleaners they have for rent at the grocery and hardware stores? You pay around $30 bucks and get to keep the cleaner for 24 hours. So here’s what you do. You line up two or three people who need their carpets cleaned, and you schedule them for, say, a Monday and a Tuesday.

On Monday morning, head to the hardware store and pay your thirty bucks. Then, head to your first client’s house. Do their carpets. The next day, head to client number two. Do their carpets.

Charge them each $100. With the initial investment of the cleaner plus the solution (around $20) you’ve made a profit of $150 in two days! If you have time left over, why not do your own carpets?

  • Renting a carpet cleaning machine can make you a nice profit
  • Cleaning carpets doesn’t take long and people pay good money for it
  • You can also clean your own carpets while you’re at it!

73. Give blood or plasma

If you’re a healthy adult, you can make money by donating blood or plasma. Do your research first, as not all donation centers will compensate you. But those that do will pay you between $20 and $50 per donation, which you can do several times per month.

It’s more difficult to find donation centers that will pay for red blood donations than plasma. Plasma donation is a longer, more involved process than blood donation, so organizations are more likely to pay you for your time and effort. That said, in some countries blood donations are paid, so be sure to do your research.

When you go in to donate blood, you’ll have to meet certain criteria. For instance, people who exhibit the presence of blood-borne pathogens will obviously not be able to donate. That said, most people are able to, and can make some extra spending money each month while doing good for someone else.

  • You can make money by donating blood or plasma
  • Plasma donations will pay more, but it’s a more involved process
  • You’ll have to meet health criteria before you can donate

74. Donate eggs

It’s not for everyone, but women can make thousands of dollars by agreeing to donate their eggs. Those eggs are then implanted in other women who are infertile or otherwise unable to have children.

Donating eggs is a huge commitment. You’ll need to give yourself injections, meet health criteria and more. Plus, you’ll have to reconcile the fact that one day there will be a child out there who will share your DNA – and you’re never going to meet this child.

If this sounds like something you’re interested in, get in touch with your local hospital – they can lead you in the right direction toward legitimate egg donation groups. You’ll be paid a few thousand dollars for your eggs, but remember that the process is a lengthy one.

  • Donating eggs helps women who are otherwise unable to have children
  • Egg donation isn’t for everyone – think long and hard before you sign up
  • Be sure you’re working with a legitimate agency to avoid complications

75. Donate sperm

Men, you can donate as well. Sperm donors won’t be paid nearly as much as egg donors because the process is, as you’d expect, quite different. However, people do pay for sperm donations, so check around to see what’s available in your area.

As with women, you’ll have to consider the implications carefully. There will be another living person out there who shares your DNA and you’re not likely to ever meet this person. If this is okay with you, sperm donation can be done quite regularly. In fact, many banks insist men donate at least once per week.

Qualified sperm donors can make a couple thousand dollars each month

  • Sperm donation is an easy way to make plenty of extra cash
  • Donating sperm isn’t for everyone – be sure you carefully consider the implications
  • Most centers have weekly requirements for donation, so be sure you’re committed

76. Be a surrogate

If you’re a woman who’s in good health, you can make the decision to become a surrogate. This process is quite involved, but the average pay is between $50-80,000. This includes expenses and medical care.

Being a surrogate is tricky stuff. First, you’ll have to pass health screenings. Then, you’ll have to make a decision – a mother’s eggs will be implanted in you and fertilized with a father’s sperm. It’s your job to take care of the fetus until a baby is born … that you’ll immediately give up to its biological parents.

There’s quite a bit of emotional involvement to being a surrogate, so be sure you take advantage of all the counseling and other services offered to you. Again, surrogate parenting isn’t right for everyone, but you can make a great deal of money if it sounds like it could be a fit for you.

  • Being a surrogate pays tens of thousands of dollars
  • It’s a very involved and emotional process
  • Be sure you take advantage of counseling services available to you throughout the process

77. Conduct a webinar

Do you know something about something? Anything! How to build a website? How to speed read? How to write a killer essay? You can create a webinar and charge people to attend.

Similar to creating an online course, mentioned above, creating a webinar doesn’t require much experience. You just need to know how to do something, create an outline and teach others how to do the same.

The difference between creating a course and creating a webinar is the amount of interaction. When you create a webinar, you’re probably going to have to invest a little more time. You’ll be answering questions, and there’s a good chance that you’ll have to be present for most of the scheduled sessions.

That said, people will pay good money for you to teach them something.

  • Creating a webinar is similar to creating an online course
  • You’ll invest more time in a webinar than you will a course
  • You don’t need a lot of experience – just a good method of teaching your skills

78. Get paid to test websites

There are sites on the internet that want you to test sites on the internet. These platforms will pay you to check out how well websites work, and offer your feedback as to how the user experience was.

Do a Google search for just that: “get paid to test websites” and then register. You’ll probably need to download software – for instance a heat map tracker (shows where you’ve been on a webpage) or a screen recording software. Other than that, the investment is quite small, and these sites can pay quite well.

Most website testing sites will require that you do an unpaid test first. Once you pass that, you can make as much as fifty bucks a pop testing out websites.

  • Website testing requires a minimal of time and investment
  • You’ll probably need to download software to test websites
  • You can get paid upwards of $50 per website you test

79. Become a model

You don’t have to look like a supermodel to become a model and get paid. In fact, people are looking for all body types to show off their merchandise. Plus size models, super thin models and even hand models are a “thing.” You can be an ear model for a jeweler. You can be a foot model for a shoe company. You name it, there’s a market for it.

Be wary of people who charge you for opportunities. You should never pay someone to “let” you apply to modelling jobs. The legitimate agencies won’t charge you anything at all.

  • You don’t need to look like Gisele to be a model
  • Plus sized models, hand models and more are in demand
  • Never pay anyone for the opportunity to model

80. Create videos online

Ever wonder what the draw is toward posting content to YouTube, Twitch, TikTok and other sites? Money! That’s what!

If you can come up with something creative, you can actually earn quite a bit of money by posting videos online. In fact, if you get really good at it, you can win sponsorships from products that will pay you to mention them in your videos.

You don’t need fancy recording equipment to create online videos. Just your iPhone or handheld camera will work just fine. Pick a subject, or a theme for your channel, and start posting your videos. The more views you get, the more money you’ll make!

  • You don’t need fancy equipment to post videos online
  • If your videos become popular, you can make a lot of money
  • Choose a theme or a subject for your channel, like haunted houses or pranks for the best chance of gaining followers

81. Offer resume help

Everyone wants to get a job, but not everyone is good at drafting resumes. Let’s face it – it can be hard to talk about yourself, and that’s essentially what a resume is. So why not offer to help others refine or create their resumes? People pay quite a bit of money – as much as a hundred or so a pop – for a quality resume.

You’ll have to “interview” the person to get a feel for his strengths, but once you have an idea creating a resume is simple. For additional income, offer to write cover letters for your clients.

  • You can make money creating resumes for job seekers
  • People don’t like to talk about themselves, so they hire others to write resumes
  • You can make additional money by drafting cover letters for your clients

82. Offer web design services

It seems that everywhere you turn, someone’s saying they’re a “web developer.” But what does that mean? Well, web developers are pretty well versed in languages like C++, HTML4 and others. But you don’t have to be in order to create beautiful websites.

Find a hosting company that allows you to install WordPress. Then, choose a theme and get to work. WordPress offers thousands of beautiful layouts that are totally customizable and work very cleanly – no glitches or errors. You can add whatever text you like, add menus, contact forms and booking forms and even add a blog to the site. People pay hundreds of dollars for a website, either because they don’t want to deal with it themselves or they just don’t know how to.

  • You can charge hundreds of dollars to design someone’s website
  • It doesn’t take a lot of tech savvy – just find a host that offers WordPress support
  • WordPress offers clean, functional designs that are installed with the click of a button

83. Develop an app

Like web design, you don’t need a whole lot of tech savvy to build a mobile app. There are sandboxes available online that you can play with and practice until you get your app just so.

What you do need to know is this: your app will need to be approved. Whether you submit it to Google, Apple or any other market, you’re going to need approval for your app to be offered. That said, you’re not going to get your money overnight. But if you design something that people will use, you can earn quite a bit.

Your app doesn’t need to be a game. You can simply create an app that, say, allows users to look up the calorie count of the food they’re eating. Or you can build something that reminds users of their friends’ birthdays or something similar.

  • You can find sandboxes online to play around with learning how to develop an app
  • Your app will have to be approved by the marketplace in which you want to sell it
  • Your app can be as simple or complex as you like

84. Sell your hair

Love your long, lustrous locks? So will someone else! You can sell your hair for a bit of extra money. Quite a bit, in fact. You can actually peddle your hair off to someone else for anywhere between $300 and $1,000.

“Virgin” hair is worth more than hair that’s been treated or dyed. And long, thick hair is worth more than thin hair. There are online calculators that will tell you how much your hair is worth. All you have to do is post pictures and agree to lop off your mane.

Men and women both can sell hair, it’s not gender specific. The hair is used for wigs, dolls and more, and often benefits people with certain health conditions like natural hair loss or chemotherapy treatment.

  • Your hair could be worth hundreds of dollars
  • Men and women alike can sell hair
  • Untreated hair is worth more than treated hair

85. Offer in-home help for the disabled

You’ve heard of groups like Meals on Wheels and others who offer temporary assistance to people who need it. The elderly, disabled and other housebound people take advantage of these services. You can make money by offering to provide in home care for these people who need it.

Decide what you’re good at, then offer your services. You could read to people with limited vision, or cook for people with limited mobility. You could help tidy up around the house for people who just can’t anymore, or you could offer to bring your pet over for a visit. Whatever you do, the experience will be rewarding for both you and your client.

  • You can make money doing what you’re good at for house-bound people
  • You could read, cook, clean or anything else for these clients
  • You may not make a ton of money, but the work is very rewarding

86. Become a substitute teacher

If you don’t have a regular full time job you can make extra money by becoming a substitute teacher. In most cases, you don’t even need a college degree. You’ll just need to pass a background check and have availability during the week.

Substitute teachers aren’t given benefits and they’re paid by the day. That daily amount usually equates to less than a hundred dollars. But let’s say there’s a teacher out for maternity leave at your local elementary school… this could equate to quite a bit of money for you!

Go to your local school district’s website and register to be notified when a substitute teacher is needed. The work isn’t hard, but it’s not guaranteed, either. In short, becoming a substitute teacher is a great way to make extra money every now and then.

  • Substitute teachers are paid by the day
  • You must have availability during the work week
  • The work isn’t guaranteed, but it’s easy!

87. Become a translator

Are you fluent in two languages? You can use your knowledge to earn extra money. Become a translator and make money just by doing what you already know how to do.

Sign language translators are in particularly high demand. These people are needed in courtrooms, schools, and even at concerts and public events. But even if you don’t know sign language you can make money with your knowledge of French, Spanish, Portuguese or any other language you know in addition to your native one!

  • Translators are in high demand for courtrooms, classrooms and more
  • Sign language interpreters are especially needed
  • You can make money just by speaking a language you speak anyway

88. Buy and sell domain names

Similar to flipping houses, you can flip domain names if you’re familiar with how the internet works. See, there are some domain names that are going to be more successful than others. For instance, a domain name like savemoney.com is probably going to be a good one, while something like ghurnml.com is obviously not.

The point is this: if you have a knack for predicting which domains will be in demand, you can buy them cheap then sell or auction them for quite a bit of money. Familiarize yourself with how domains work, then buy a few good ones. It’s feasible that you could buy a domain for five dollars and sell it for $5,000 later.

  • You can make a huge amount of money buying and selling domain names
  • People pay a lot for premium domain names – buy them while they’re cheap and sell them for a profit
  • Do a little research on how domain sales work and pretty soon you’ll have a knack for finding the ones with good resale value

89. Resell books and textbooks

Do you have a bookshelf full of books you’re never going to read again? That you’re never going to read at all? You can sell them online for cash.

You’re not going to make a ton of money doing this, but you can certainly make a few bucks. List your books on websites that act as resellers. Then, be prepared to ship them. Some sites will offer a shipping label to you while others you’ll need to buy your own postage. Be sure you take that into account when you price your books.

College textbooks are especially expensive, so if you’re a student you can make a ton of money reselling your books. Even if you’re the type who highlights every passage in a book, you can still earn money back by selling your textbooks to broke students who don’t want to pay full price. You won’t earn back what you paid initially, but it’s likely you can make a few hundred dollars per semester.

  • There are many book sellers online that allow you to list and sell your unwanted books
  • College textbooks are especially good sellers, as they’re expensive when purchased new
  • If your platform charges you for shipping, be sure you account for that when setting your price

90. Enter competitions

What are you good at? Drawing? Riding horses? Cooking a killer chili? Enter contests and competitions for a chance to win awesome cash prizes!

All around the world, people host contests for some unbelievable stuff. You could enter a hot dog eating contest or a pie bake off. You could register to win huge prizes for catching the biggest fish. You could even do what we mentioned in #22 and get paid to lose the most weight of all your team members.

Use your imagination! And if there’s nothing that appeals to you, then why not start your own contest? You can charge an entry fee – say five dollars – and keep $1 from everyone. The other $4 is paid out to the winner. You won’t make as much this way, but it’s a guaranteed way to make a little money.

  • You can win large cash prizes for entering contests
  • Contests can be straightforward or quite bizarre, depending on what’s available in your area
  • If you can’t find a contest you like, you can always sponsor your own!

91. Do mystery shopping

Mystery shopping isn’t a guaranteed way to make income, but it’s fun! What you’ll do is register for a mystery shopping service, then accept assignments. You’ll visit a store and complete a transaction, then be reimbursed and paid a little extra.

Need an example? In the United States, underage alcohol sales is huge. Companies pay people to enter their franchises to ensure those franchises are checking ID for age requirements. If you’re over the legal age, you get a free drink and a couple extra bucks. Plus, you’re helping control underage drinking!

There are others, too. You may be asked to rate customer service quality or even wait times in line at your local gas station. Mystery shopping won’t pay your bills but it’s a good way to get some extra spending money and a free beer or sandwich every now and then!

  • Mystery shopping gigs pay a few bucks per assignment
  • In addition to the pay, you’ll be reimbursed for your purchase
  • Mystery shopping won’t pay a lot of money but the perks are fun, and worth it

92. Rent out your belongings

Do you have a sound system you’re not using? An e-reader? Maybe you’ve got some sports equipment lying around that you never use.

You can make money by renting it out! Let someone borrow the old cell phone you’ve deactivated or the treadmill you’re using as a clothes hanger. You’ll get cash, and they’ll get the benefit. As with any rental agreement, be sure the terms are very well laid out in the agreement, and also be sure to cover what happens if the item is damaged or broken.

  • You can rent out the things you’re not using anymore, like electronics and sporting goods
  • Be careful to protect yourself against damage to your products in the rental agreement
  • The possibilities are almost endless: rent out your treadmills, your phones… anything!

93. Groom pets

Do you know the worst part about owning a cat? Clipping its claws. Seriously. It’s a bear. But if you have the stomach for it, and other animal-related tasks, you can make money by grooming pets.

Offer your services to pet owners at your local bulletin board or a site like Thumbtack. You can wash animals, clip their fur, trim their nails and even give them flea dips, all without a license. Check with your local regulations, as some parts of the world may allow different services.

People don’t like to groom their pets. It’s a hassle and it’s dirty work. But if you don’t mind, you can certainly make a decent amount of money by doing it for them!

  • You can make money grooming other people’s pets
  • You’ll have to engage in pretty dirty work, but people pay well to have their pets groomed
  • Check with your local jurisdiction to see if a license is required

94. Sell your art

Are you an artist? You can sell your drawings, painting, photography and even digital graphics for cash. If you’re an artist who loves working in tangible media like paint or clay, you can showcase your art at local galleries. If you prefer to work digitally, sell your art online.

If you’re a popular artist in your community, you can sell your work for quite a bit of money. If you’re not very well known, you may receive a little less. Ask local coffee shops and more to display your art as well as galleries and even farmer’s markets, and you can make quite a bit of money just by doing what you love to do.

  • No matter what medium you prefer, people love to buy art
  • Check with your local galleries and coffee shops to see if they’ll display your work
  • If you’re a popular artist in your community, you can charge hundreds of dollars for just one piece

95. Write reviews

Did you know that you can get paid to write reviews online? You sure can! There are websites online as well as individual agencies that will pay you to write reviews on the products you use.

Writing reviews is similar to mystery shopping. You’ll be tasked with buying a product, phoning into a customer service line or visiting a store. Then, you’ll be paid when you write an honest review about the product, the customer service in the location or any other factor.

The pay for writing reviews varies widely. You could be paid a few bucks or you could be paid as much as around $50 per review, depending on the agency and how thorough you are. Do a Google search for “get paid to write reviews” and find a few options you like. The pay isn’t steady, but it can add up over time!

  • Agencies and individual companies will pay you to write honest reviews
  • The work isn’t always consistent, but can pay quite well
  • Writing reviews is similar to mystery shopping – you’ll test a product or service then write about it

96. Be a Jack or Jill of all trades

Do you know how to use a miter saw? A router? Do you know how to set up an iPhone? Do you know how to paint walls? Weed a garden? All of the above?

Make money by becoming a Jack or Jill of all trades. You can hire yourself out as a general handyperson, or you can volunteer your paid services based on what interests you. Trust us. People will hire you to do all the things they just don’t want to do, from scanning receipts and data entry to mailing out Christmas cards. Some people will even have you sign their name to them!

These jobs can be as lucrative as you like. For instance, you can be paid quite a lot for interior painting, while you won’t be paid as much for the Christmas card idea. Use your imagination, and don’t be afraid to reach beyond your comfort level!

  • You can make money doing just about anything!
  • From painting walls to scanning receipts, there’s always someone who’s willing to pay you to do the dirty work
  • You can make as much or as little as you like being a Jill or Jack of all trades

97. Be a professional wingman

Have you ever wanted to approach a gorgeous woman or a ridiculously hot guy at the bar, but didn’t have the courage to do it? Well, so have other people. You can actually charge people for your services as a professional wingman.

A wingman (or woman, of course) is someone who acts as a third party to introduce people to each other. So, for instance, you’d approach that hot guy and say, “Hey! My friend, Jake, would really like to talk to you but he’s super shy. Mind if I introduce you two?”

Trust us. People pay for this. Love sells, and you can sell your friendliness by becoming a professional wingman.

  • You can get paid to be a professional matchmaker
  • If you’re friendly and don’t mind introducing people, this is an easy gig
  • Offer your services as a wingman and charge people to help them meet the guy or girl of their dreams

98. Prepare taxes

For some people,  doing taxes is a bear. All those numbers, forms, calculations and possibilities for audit… who doesn’t hate taxes?

However, for some, doing taxes is a treat – especially when they’re other people’s taxes. There can be something therapeutic about sitting down with a pencil and a few forms and just doing basic math. You can look for deductions, maximize a tax refund and save people money, all while learning!

If you’re in the latter group, did you know that you can charge people to do their taxes for them? In most cases you won’t need any professional licensure, but it wouldn’t hurt to take a few classes. The big names in tax preparation offer these classes for free, as will your local community college.

Sign up for a course or two, then offer your services as a tax pro. Charge based on the project or charge a percentage of the client’s refund. It’s up to you!

  • You usually don’t need certifications to become a tax prep pro
  • You can charge what makes sense to you – a flat fee or a percentage of the refund amount
  • Tax preparation isn’t for everyone, but if you like crunching numbers this is a great gig

99. Start a meal prep service

Last on the list of 99 ways to make money is a fun one. You can start a meal prep service!

The client base is certainly out there. You’ve got people who hate cooking. You’ve got people who are too busy to cook. Then there are the disabled, the people who have nannies, the people with dietary considerations… you name it.

If you love to cook, start a meal prep service. You don’t have to cook the meals – all you’ll do is lay out the ingredients for the client to easily access. So, for example, imagine you have a single, working mother of three kids. She doesn’t have time to prepare fresh meals for her kids each day, so instead she relies on frozen foods and take out.

Bring a little health to her life. You’ll need to portion out, say, four portions of chicken, four servings of pasta, some sun dried tomatoes and some mushrooms. Get all the spices together – maybe some pepper, salt and minced garlic. Put all the ingredients in a storage solution that keeps them separated until cooking time. Then, include a notecard with the exact instructions on how to prepare the meal.

People want to eat healthful, whole meals but many just don’t have time. You can help make the world a healthier place by starting a meal prep service.

  • If you love to cook, you can start a meal prep service
  • Have a nice arsenal of recipes available, then start putting ingredients together!
  • Be sure to familiarize yourself with dietary considerations, like a diabetic diet, a Mediterranean diet and a low-carb diet
